Iraq, with a population of 46 million as per the November 2024 census, is undergoing a demographic and socioeconomic transition. The population growth rate stands at 2.53%, with 70% of the population residing in urban areas. Approximately 11% of households are headed by women, and 14% of the population resides in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). While poverty has declined, it remains at 17.5%. The working-age population (15–64 years) represents 60% of the total population.
